Jay P Featured on Salsa Cycles Home Page
Ok, so we are kinda proud of our staff and we love to show them off. So when we found out that our own Jay P and his winning and record-setting Iditarod Trail Invitational ride made it onto one of our favorite bike brands home page, we had to share! Congrats to Jay P on an amazing ride, and to Salsa Cycles for showing off our staff!
You can follow Jay and Fitzy Team Rider Tracey Petervary on their next adventure riding in Southern California’s Stage Coach 400 this weekend. Last year Jay P won this event and Tracey took an impressive 10th overall and 2nd in the women’s race. Once they have the spot tracker site up we’ll post up that link. And we’ll get Jay P to talk about his gear selection for this race when he gets back.
My First Road Bike
I remember buying my first road bike. I was living in St. Louis for a summer and was looking for something to do, so I decided I would ride! I found my dream bike - it was a steel Trek 1100 in Glacier Blue with HOT PINK accents and down tube shifters. I was super excited - I took it for a test ride and put down my money. The shop said they needed to get it ready so I was told to come back the next day and pick it up. When I picked it up I was incredibly disappointed - they replaced the sleek racing saddle with a fat “Women’s” saddle (just imagine a cruiser saddle on my super fast road bike) which they said was the only saddle for a girl like me. And just to add another insult, they wouldn’t put the other saddle back on. Grrr! Well that was the last time they got any of my money! (more…)
Safe Routes to Schools
We recently received news from the Idaho Pedestrian & Bicycle Alliance about how federal transportation funding will be spent in Idaho. The Idaho Transportation Board says that the Transportation Alternative Programs supports local tools such as Safe Routes to School, Transportation Enhancements, Scenic Byways and Recreational Trails - this is great news for local communities to get funding for cycling pathways and creating safe routes to schools. Now’s the opportunity for us to contact our local officials and encourage and help them apply for grants to improve pathways and safe routes to schools in our Idaho communities.
Here’s the letter we received!
A few weeks ago we helped the new IMBA Chapter, Mountain Bike Teton Valley get started at our St. Patrick’s Day Party. Well now the organization has a name and Facebook Page. We’d thought we’d share some FAQs with you all. (more…)
Another wheel size for mountain bikes is all the rage this year. And it got me thinking, how come? Well we got the low down from Scott’s marketing director via Bicycling.com magazine why the 27.5 or 650b wheel is going to be the next big thing! And we are carrying a full selection of mountain bikes with this new wheel size from Scott. Why? Because we think this wheel size is will work great for our customer and the riding in Teton Valley, Jackson Hole and beyond.
