Why Scott Mountain Bikes
Let's take a minute to talk about the Scott Mountain Bikes we are carrying:
- You may have heard about this “new” wheel size – it’s in between a tradition 26" wheel size and the larger 29" wheel. We’re carrying one model in carbon, the Genius 720, and two aluminum frames, the Genius 730 and Genius 740, all with 150mm (5.9 inches) of travel.
- These bikes allow folks to take advantage of the larger wheel size for rolling over obstacles while still keeping almost 6" inches of travel. Riders who haven’t jumped on the 29er bandwagon may find that this longer travel, slacker geometry 650b wheel sized bike may be what they are looking for in their next bike.
- If you are interested in riding the Genius 740, you’ll be able to demo one from the shop.
- We’ve also got in our demo fleet the Genius 940. This long travel 29er bike (5.1" of travel in the front and rear) is a bit slacker than the Spark series giving it more stability at speed and descending and allowing riders to easily attack technical terrain. It should be a super fun bike to take on one of our Big Hole Epics.

- These 29ers are versatile all mountain machines which will excel at cross country riding. We’re carrying the Spark 930, Spark 950 and Spark 960.
- We are also carrying the Spark 900 SL which is one of the lightest production bikes on the market. And it's outfitted with SRAM's new 1 x 11drivetrain XX1. Read about gear ratios here.
- The Sparks have quickly become the go to race bike for the Fitzgerald’s Bicycles team with several team members riding Sparks this summer. Their shorter travel and lighter weight makes them great cross country and race machines.
- But it’s more than just a race bike because the Sparks have proven to be one of our best selling every day cross country bikes.
