Why Strider No Pedal Bikes are so Kickin’

The shop’s youngest staff member, Braden, has been riding for just a couple of months now. Which, considering he turned two just this month, is pretty impressive.

Braden on his Strider

How did he get his start? A Strider.

I talked with Jannine about why a Strider:

“As a bike shop owner of almost 10 years I have always hoped that if I had a kid they would love to ride a bike as much as my husband and I do,” Jannine said.

Braden started on his Strider this past winter, indoors. Jannine told me that “he spent most of the winter just walking around the house on it and just holding it and having it part of his world.”

Things seriously changed though once the thaw came. “When the snow thawed and he could get out on the bike path it really was not long before the walking turned into a bit of gliding and then full on coasting. The sense of balance that these kick bikes give kids is amazing.”

Jannine added “they learn so quickly to adjust their weight, check their speed and even drop a leg or two to regain balance or direction. It is amazing. Our son has short little legs and we found that the Strider bike was the best option on the market with it’s lower standover and super low profile saddle that allows the ones to stand over them.”

Scott and Jannine have almost as much fun watching Braden ride as he has riding his Strider.

“So, when he started COASTING, long distances, on his Strider at the age of 22 months we could not help throwing high fives like mad…when our son wasn’t looking of course. When I tell you that this little bean of a child will coast down an entire bike path while he holds up his legs forward, sideways, and even back in a superman style, it totally cracks us up and turns many heads as well.”

Jannine’s Conclusion: This will be the best $100 you will ever spend on your child! Well, $130 because you MUST factor in the MANDATORY helmet you will need to purchase as well.
