After much deliberation the brew pub has decided on a new design for the lost mural on their North wall. “We just wanted to give back to the community, give back to the locals,” said Director of Brewery Operations Chris Erickson, “Since PBR is such a popular beer in Jackson we thought this might be a good way to apologize for painting over the old Fitzy mural”. Chris went on to say that the art installation will be a rotating piece that pays tribute to other domestic “macro brews”. Budweiser, Coors, and MGD are all slated for future artistic renderings on the pub. When asked if their competitors logos will hurt Snake River’s beer sales Chris went on to say, “I doubt it, everyone knows our beer is far superior. If anything it might cause one of our regulars to try a PBR and realize how good they have it at the Brew Pub.”

I support both parties. Each has their own view and should be able to voice them as they have done. Fitzy has a bit of an advantage since he can plaster photos and remarks on a his local website without national consequences. Chris can’t do the same without the owners of the brew pub coming down on him.

With that being said I think that the pub should be able to do whatever they want with their wall. I don’t know all the details and honestly would rather not. My guess is Fitzy had to get permission from the pub to paint the wall in the beginning since he is a renter. He likely paid for the artwork to be completed. It seems to me that the brew pub and/or Chris don’t need permission to paint their own wall what they want when they want.

Best of luck to both sides.

    That…is…AWESOME!
We were considering doing a mural of the front of the Fitzgerald’s bike-jersey, but I like your macro-mural much better!

    Good stuff,

    Tim

Ha ha ha I like the new idea as long as the featured beer of the month is $1.00 drafts.

On that note there are about 10 million things more worthy of the mental and physical energy involved in this repartee. Shake hands, drink a beer and smile. . . its almost summer.

So i have been monitoring this on going feud of the wall, and can appreciate the view from both sides. I would like to make a comment that I feel in a way calms the water. It is interesting to view the wall as sort of an art gallery space, and the mural as a piece of installation art. Now in that aspect all galleries do remove art from them, patch up the holes and put a new coat of paint on the wall as not to deter from the artists piece. In that perspective the mural had one hell of an installation, and like all good art must tastefully step aside as to promote more art to keep the population interested and excited.
The brew pub fixed up an old wall in bad shape (if you ever looked close enough), and painted it a neutral color. I feel that this will only help out Fitzy’s in a few ways. First it will draw attention to the front of the building where the shop now is (probably what they want anyways, and no more what happened to the bike shop? from patrons). Second Fitzy now has a gigantic new wall that Chris already expressed interest in collaborating a mural on. In short change can be good, and instead of being stuck in the past move on and be grateful for the good people at both establishments.

    Scott,

This is the brew pub calling. Your eviction notice is in the mail.

Fitzy… bummer about the old mural. Just one more thing that makes the great beer at the Pub taste just a little more skunky. The bad taste started after they raised their $6 Lunch to $7 bones (hardly worth it any more) and taking the brie cheese out of the turkey wrap. This might be enough for a permanent boycott. The beer’s good, but not that good.
