Outerlocal Summer Games



Are you a true mountain athlete adventurer? This serious question can be put to the test on Saturday, July 7th at the Outerlocal Summer Games, a festival/stage race that includes bouldering, a mountain bike and trail running leg up Snow King followed by a paragliding leg around East Gros Ventre Butte.

The brain child behind this event is Christian Beckwith, the founding editor of Outerlocal.com, a social media website for adventure athletes. He is the former editor of The American Alpine Journal, the founding editor of Alpinist Magazine, the founder of The Alpinist Film Festival and The Mountain Yodel, and the coordinator of the Teton Boulder Project.

Fitzy team member Melissa Davidson just qualified for the 70.3 Ironman World Championships in Las Vegas this September. She sat down and chatted with me for a few minutes about why she races triathlons, big girl panties and why Johnny Cash keeps her going:

Soul Changing Journeys by Bike



 

Right now Fitzy team rider, Tracey Petervary, is on her bike riding just southeast of Kalispell, Montana on the Tour Divide. As of 8:30 am on Monday, June 11, she’s about 430 miles into her 2700 plus mile journey from Banff to Antelope Wells, New Mexico. Tracey’s covering about 140 miles per day riding at an average of 6 mph and is in 13th place overall. (more…)

Team Spotlight: Margot Watters



 

Margot Watters is in the spotlight this week. A new member to the team, Margot brings some serious Triathlon chops to our already diverse crew. She recently finished 5th in her age group at the intensely challenging Ironman in St. George, Utah. This weekend she is off to Boise to race in the Boise 70.3 Ironman. Before she left she spilled the beans on her favorite Eminem song, the ride up to Grand Targhee Resort, and burgers, fries and BEER!

Run & Ride Recap



13th Annual Run & Ride

This past Sunday, Scott and I helped out with the 13th Annual Run & Ride in Wilson. Fitzgerald’s has sponsored this event for a few years now, but the real drivers of the event are Jeff Crabtree and Phil Leeds of Skinny Skis and Kate McLaren of Kate McLaren Sports Massage. The event raises money for the Cancer Patient Support Fund at St. John’s Medical Center Foundation. (more…)
