This Trek was purchased at the end of Jan 2015. I currently have over 1800 miles. I have changed two components in the last two months. Out is the standard handlebar for a touring handlebar and twist shift has been replaced by index thumb shifting. My main goal has been to add weight to this bike in order to buyild my endurance for touring in 2016. As seen in the attached pic, I have front and rear racks and bags. Total training weight bike/bags is between 60 and 79 lbs and climbing. I have been working many hills and the gearing on this is excellent. This is the bike I am using to dial in my comfort measurements for my next purchase of a Trek 520 disc in early 2016. TREK, you are more than welcome to donate that bike to me should you feel the urge to flex your corporate muscles :-) This my second Trek since 2004 and I have no intent on changing now. BTW, this pic was from the Old Kentucky Home Tour 2015, Louisville, KY, 72 miles Sat and 55 Sun with MANY hills. Based upon the bikes attending (600 plus riders) I was the only one with over 60 lbs of bike and gear. Verve 2 rocks! Thanks all

The salesman at the TREK store was very professional, knowledgeable and very patience with me! I think his name was Nate. I would be proud to have him on my team!!! I purchased the bike in Rehobeth beach on Route 1 He even delivered the bike to my home at no additional cost. SUPER SERVICE!!!

Wonderful bike! Growing up, I loved riding. I've been out of it for decades but decided to take it up again--for recreation and exercise. At my local bike shop I tested the Trek 7.2 FX and the Verve 2 and chose the Verve because it was more comfortable (suspension fork and wider seat). I've got it decked on now with mirror, bell, trip computer, lighting system, etc., and have mainly been taking it on 8-20 mile rides on local paved bike trails--with an occasional gravel path. It's a joy to ride--so smooth and quiet and the shifting is perfect. I recommend if you do much work on gravel that you consider something with wider wheels. This bike is great for smooth dirt paths, but gets a little unstable on big gravel. Overall a great bike!

This bike has a front brake so squishy and unresponsive that the brake pulls down all the way to the grip. Mechanic at store that sold it to me can't make it more responsive. The gearing is so gentle that you cannot get any leverage when pedaling on even a modest downhill incline - you are riding a boat not a bike if you are on a flat or downhill grade. Not easy to get that changed. This bike seems to be designed for octogenarians - particularly those who don't care much about quality.

A good on road and some off road riding, but not like a true mountain bike. Riding the back roads and streets, this is the perfect bike. A lot of gears (21) to make the ride easy. The upright position and larger seat makes a more comfortable ride. If your looking for speed, this may not be the right bike, but for the casual rider, I can't think of a better bike.

I use it for exercise and ride it along the canal towpath mainly. I do have to take it back for some gear and brake ajustments. All around a pretty decent ride.
