2015 Trek Speed Concept 9.9

Some wins are measured in seconds. On Trek's Speed Concept 9.9 you'll measure your improvements in minutes! The full OCLV carbon frame delivers unrivaled aerodynamics with Trek's Kammtail tubes that cheat the wind even at serious real-world wind angles. It's also brilliantly light and stiff for outstanding acceleration and cornering. Notice anything missing? The cables, brakes, electronics, and even the skewers are hidden, out of the wind. There's even integrated storage that makes the frame more aero. Plus, the shifting is telepathic with Dura-Ace Di2 and the Aeolus wheels increase this unfair advantage on any course. Faster, lighter, better. Just like you!

This is my second SC. Had a first gen and had a frame damaging accident. Trek worked to help me buy this new one. Love the improvments. Feels like the braking performance is better. Comfort is improved. Put Zip Firecrest 808s on it and it is simply an awesome bike.

      Comments:

An incredible piece of design work. One of, if not the fastest production bike in the world. Ridden to numerous race fastest bike splits, but awesome for training as well. Bike is extremely easy to pack despite the high level of integration. Incredible not having a single wire showing to the wind. Love the mono-spacer which makes cockpit symmetry super easy to achieve.

        Comments:

On my first TT with my new SC today--only my third time on the bike--I set a PB by 16sec (about 8 mile TT). This was after being sick for a week, not anywhere near peak condition. With the fit of this bike you can get in an aggressive position yet be comfortable enough to stay on the aerobars for a long time. The Di2 shifting is nothing but smooth and being closer to the ground gives you a more solid feel and makes the wind all but disappear. Trek did everything right with this bike.

        Comments:

I ride this setup: Black frameset, Zipp 1080 clinchers front/rear, Bontrager 19x700 tires, zylon cables, Fizik K1 saddle. Very comfy ride. I had issues getting the seatpost to accept the larger rail Fizik K1 saddle and we never were able to get it really tight to be quiet. That is the only noise which annoys me. Otherwise, a great ride.

          Comments:

Have had this for approx 3 months. Is a really good daily ride. I have had to keep returning to the shop for re-tightening different parts. Most on the front end area. I have been riding 175psi tires and recently dropped to 150psi. Better ride quality/enjoyment and less maintenance by doing this. I ride 1080 Zipp clinchers front and rear, SRAM Red throughout, and Fizik K1 saddle.

This is, simply put, the most amazing bike around. Comfortable on 50+ miles training rides, light, responsive, not to mention it just looks sick! Loves to roll downhill...you'll have to jam on the brakes to keep it under 40 mph if you're not comfortable with that kind of speed. I wish the brakes worked a little better, but you can only expect so much from cork pads against carbon wheels, so I still consider them to perform admirably. Very easy to adjust and dial in to your riding position. Can't wait to do the Nation's Triathlon on this thing in a few weeks!
