Adding 29-inch wheels to the ever-popular Fuel EX just adds fuel to the fire. Trek's Fuel EX 9 29 is done right with an Alpha aluminum frame and confidence-inspiring G2 geometry. Frame stiffness translates into better handling, so you're equipped with an E2 head tube and a 142x12mm through axle rear end. For suspension, Fox and Trek teamed up to create an awesome 120mm Float fork and Float DRCV shock. The squish is paired with Trek's ABP and Full Floater rear end that keeps your rear wheel tracking over chunder, even during hard braking. The no-compromise build includes Shimano XT 2x10 gearing, XT discs, a Reverb Stealth dropper post, and tough, tubeless-ready Bontrager wheels. Pay attention, the fire's getting hot.

This is my first 29er after I used to ride Trek's 8500 (from 1996 and 2007 respectively) for ... 18 years. And this is also my first full suspension bike as well. And I must say that it is an incredibly efficient bike, coming very well equipped (full XT and top-range Fox suspensions). This bike provides a lot (really a lot) of confidence, and it really makes rides shorter (or rather it allows you to make longer outings!). The only thing I regret about it is the fact that weekends are only 2-day long, otherwise I would spend much more time enjoying it! Looking forward to enjoy real mountain rides this summer ...

I ride mostly trails with rocks, roots, ruts, loose mud, ups, downs, tight turns and this bike loves it. I have not encountered anything in my rides that this bike doesn't handle with ease. Bought it slightly used from a guy who bought it from Cycle World and absolutely love this bike. Excellent bike right out of the box.

I was skeptical about joining the 29er fold. I'm now convinced it's the way to go. This bike works great in the varied conditions I've confronted it with in my 2 months of ownership. I thought the dropper seat-post might be a gimmick but it works as advertised I've ridden it in dry, wet, light snow and melting snow conditions, and it really inspires confidence. Simply put, this bike makes me a better rider. Shimano XTR 980 pedals and the bike was complete. I thought I may have to change saddle, wheels/tires, stem/bar (as on previous bikes) etc., but all I've changed is the grips. Highly recommended!

I have owned the last 3 generations of the EX9, all 26" wheels, and thought that was the way it was meant to be. Trek proved me wrong when they released this bike. It just plain does things better than the 26" versions did, flow, traction, climbing, hammering. It's just better. If I could only afford the carbon.

After researching many different bikes I'm so glad I chose the Fuel Ex 29. It took all of about 2minutes of riding to realise how much better the 29 inch wheels are for my type of riding in the single tracks. The bumps just disappear with the bigger wheels and the full floater suspension on the Fuel. It's light and nimble through the trees and climbs like a billy goat. I can't think of any faults on the bike and I've ridden about 80kms now.

I rode a 2011 Remedy 7 until this year I test rode a Fuel Ex7 and absolutely loved it. I used to ride around 8 to 12 miles at a time on average, single track and some pavement on my remedy7. The first day I rode the Fuel Ex 7 I did 17 miles. I was against 29ers at first until I rode one, they are so fast on the trail and the rolling resistance is minimal compared to a 26 inch wheel. I put 7 miles on the first day I rode the Ex 9 and loved it right away. The next day I did some minor suspension changes, set up to treks specs, and I rode 37 miles! I absolutely love the CTD suspension from riding on the pavement to bombing a sketchy descent. It soaks up everything! The Reverb seatpost is handy for the descents. The shimano deore xt component work flawless and the clutch system in the rear derailluer is great at reducing chain slap. Bottom line if you want to go fast on the trail and soak up all the bumps this bike is for you.

I was riding a 2009 Trek EX 8 (which is a great bike) and the new Ex 9/29 is a huge step up. The quality of the ride is superior in all aspects and the parts spec is great for the price. I feel every bit as excited as when I got my EX 8 and the new bike puts a grin on my face every time I ride!

I own a trek fuel ex9 26 inch that is two years old. I absolutely love that bike. I have been looking at a few 29ers recently but did not want to give up the great ride of the fuel. I was at a local bike store and the guy said trek had just released the 29er fuel. My dream came true! This bike is every bit as fun to ride as my old ex9 but noticeably faster and more capable on the local trails. The geometry is very similar to the 26 inch. Stand over height is almost the same. The wheels do feel just a little heavier when accelerating but that is due to the size. The added ability to roll over just about everything more than makes up for it. I love my 26 inch ex9 and swore I would never change bikes but this 29 inch version is a solid upgrade and a blast to ride. Thanks Trek for coming out with this.
