Take the crisp handling, active suspension, and playful nature of the Fuel EX and bump it up to 29-inch wheels. You just became unstoppable. The Fuel EX 7 29 uses an Alpha aluminum frame and all the magic that puts Trek at the head of the pack. Things like the E2 head tube, and Full Floater and ABP rear suspension technologies make for a ride that obliterates the line between a hard-charging trail bike and nimble XC bike. The front and rear Fox suspension with CTD is responsive, plush, and handles hits way above its 120mm for that bottomless feeling without compromising a thing. Plus, Bontrager Race Lite components and Shimano gearing and discs feels like icing on the cake. Like we mentioned, unstoppable.

I ride about 30 miles a week on country gravel roads. Conditions vary, occasionally smooth, sometimes loose gravel, often full of potholes. This bike floats over all of it. My previous bike had a mind of its own, I often had to muscle it to get it to do what I wanted. My trek seems to know what I want it to do. It performs like an extension of my body. I have found the bike of my dreams.

I had been riding mountains bikes for many years now, and this bike is great! Very smooth ride and very aggressive when you need it. I would probably end up doing some upgrades on it, but as it right now I can't think of a single thing I don't like about this bike.

I tried a fuel ex8 29 2014 and loved it but was slightly out of my price range so decided on the fuel ex7 29. I absolutely love it. It climbs great, the 29" wheels go effortlessly over everything, brakes are great and suspension with CTD is brilliant once set up properly. I found trek website brilliant for setting the suspension up,the recommendations given for my weight were pretty much spot on. I use it mainly on the ridgeway and it's just brilliant up there. Well worth the money!

This is a GREAT bike. I came from a Trek 4300 and of course a hardtail rides less plush - BUT, the control and "flickability" I get from this bike (esp. when coming from a 26er) is awesome. I just leave it in "Trail" mode and don't really change it on the descents and the easy/medium climbs. Did a great fit at my LBS and also some rebound adjustment while on ride. Since I'm a lighter guy I needed to be more particular about my RB adjusting for the Fork. Now it's smooth and silky :) I'm 5'5 and run a 15.5 frame size. I feel perfect when I'm on this bike. Previous posters commented on the brakes - I did change them to SLXs. They are now puuuuuuurfect!

This bike makes me a better climber. It also gives confidence going downhill, including some drops. I'm very pleased with this bike. I picked up after I got my teenager one. We both love them. This is my second 29er and I'm sticking with the 29er.

My first ride on the EX7 was great, hit the trails in the Black Hills was amazed by the how well it climbed. The 29 wheels roll over everything. I found myself looking for the most difficult terrain on the trail to see how it handled. I was not disapointed. I bought the bike for a 50 mile race and so far well worth the money.

The features I like most about this bike are exactly what I purchased it for – to climb the hills I couldn't get up on my previous bike. This bike helps me do this in several ways: 1) The traction is unbelievable and the tires grab in conditions where I am expecting them to slip. The weighting of the bike is such that the rear wheel keeps traction even when I'm out of the saddle. I have had problems with other bikes slipping when I get off the seat. 3) The 29r tires give low roll resistance calming rock, branch and terrain problems. 4) The gearing of the bike gives you allot of options to choose from on those steep climbs. 5) The adjustable shocks give you a bunch of on the fly suspension options. The bottom line is that this bike eats hills. I also love the confident smooth ride on the bomb and the full lock out for the long haul flat stretches. The chain slap lever makes for a quieter downhill bomb which is much appreciated.
