        Comments:

I am a XC racer and avid mountain bike rider. Having recently pared down my quiver to just a single mountain bike, my Elite 9.9 has become my every day bike as well as my race bike, and it is fantastic. Add on a thru axle to the front and this bike rails even more. Easily had this bike under 19lbs. The seatmast keeps things comfortable while seated, while the BB is solid as a rock for great power transfer and the front end is point and shoot stiff for confident descending, especially considering it's a hard tail. This bike handles in a way that can't be matched with wagon wheels, and reminds me every time I ride it that the 26" hard tail is alive and well, and can still be super fun to ride. Got me on a few podiums this summer, too.

                Comments:

The 9.9 is fantastic, climbs, descends, powers and finesses better than expected. The supposed compromise of going hard tail as opposed to full suspension was minimised by the beautiful carbon frame’s compliant and smooth but extremely stiff and responsive ride. I am very pleased with this bike and I look forward to many happy training and race days together. The Trek 9.9 SSL Elite Red Carbon is exactly what I need in a race bike. It will be perfect on the Cape-Epic.

                Comments:

I raced this bike hard this season and was more excited when I finished the race than when I started it! I would see guys DNF-ing becasue their gear wasn't able to handle the workload but my 9.9 with the full XTR groupo was. I ended up cracking the frame in six places by the end of the season because of torque but Trek replaced it so I am good to go once again. This bike is a dream for anyone having the pleasure of riding it. Highly recommended if you want to kick some tail.

                Comments:

This bike flies up hill. I rarely need to get into the granny gear. It handles like my old Race Inc. BMX bike (boy that really dates me). I have been looking, for years, for a mountain bike that handles and has a BMX feel to it. This would be the closest thing to that. The remote lockout is sweet, although clumsy me broke that lever already.

I can't say enough good things about this bike. It it like riding a razor cutting through anything. If you have the coin, then this is the bike you need. Top of the line everything. You won't have to worry about any part of this bike letting you down when you need it the most. They do not call this the Elite for nothing.
