Light. Sporty. Lively. Trek's 7.4 FX is perfect for getting in shape or ditching the car and pedaling to your errands or to work. Its lightweight aluminum frame gets up to speed in a blink, while the carbon fork delivers quick steering and a smooth ride. The easy-rolling 700c wheels along with the hill-flattening 27-speed Shimano drivetrain let you ride further and faster than you may have thought possible. And, the FX is made for not just speed, but comfort as well, with a more upright riding position, a supportive seat and ergonomic grips and handlebar. You also get puncture-resistant tires and powerful linear-pull brakes. Have fun out there!

This bike replaced a 10 year old 7.2 FX which I liked very much. The upgrade is definitely worth it, the 7.4 is much more responsive and faster. The seat, which seems to be a common malady, is uncomfortable, I kept my aftermarket seat from my previous bike and replaced the OEM seat with it after one ride. I ride approximately 100 miles per week for maintaining physical fitness, the 7.4 was an excellent choice for me.

Comments:
I take my bike out once a week for a 60-70 km ride. With the many hills in the city I live in, I greatly appreciate the inner chainring and low gears combined with the 700x32 tires. Nevertheless, considering the price tag of the FX in comparison with others in the market, a higher model crank, shifter and front derailleur (i.e. deore instead of acera) would have made this bike better. Other than this, more effort in making less noticable welding for the looks and a more comfortable seat would better satisfy the user profile of a bike as such. I would highly recommend this bike for all casual and commuting riders expecting something between a mountain and road bike. It performs on almost all surfaces except exreme forest / mountains and thus will meet your expectations in this regard. With the carbon-fork upgrade from the 7.3 (you will get less noise off the road) and a downgrade from the 2 chainring 7.5 (as I'm not the 'all performance' person :), I believe the 7.4 is the optimal model in this series (price / performance wise) for anyone like myself.

I'm basically an endurance runner.I used to cross train on bike but had gotten away from it for quite a while. I decided to return to biking. My antic Trek was past salvaging so I purchased a new one. i hope to try some duathlons in the spring. i am very pleased with the super ride

Great bike at a great price. Put a child seat on the back for my toddler to ride along with no problem. For trips to the market, a handlebar basket won't work, I put one on there and it totally scratched up the paint which was disappointing. Ended up just putting a handlebar bag off the front and getting a basket for the back (when my kid isn't there). The ergo grips are super comfortable. Really happy with this bike.

Using for recreation and exercise. Previously had Giant hybrid. This is much lighter, faster, shifting much smoother. Overall much closer to a road bike.

Possibly the Best purchase I have ever made. After taking a test ride on the 7.2 and the 7.4, the IsoZone handle bar, and carbon fork are worth every penny of the upgrade price. Nothing has been this comfortable before.
Comments:
You get a lot for the extra from a 7.3. I think this bike is the sweet spot of the line. Love the winged handle grips, completely adjustable. Love the better quality button shifter. Love the orange color. I get so many comments.

This bike delivers everything I want. Returned to cycling after a few years, the bike is light fast and responsive. I use it on surfaced trails through the Peak district in the UK. I am very happy with this bike only small criticism I have chipped the paint already.
