NiteRider's top-of-the-line Pro3600 and last year's Pro3000 are virtually identical, with the exception of an almost unnoticeable 600 lumen increase on the brightest setting. I wanted the 3600, but the price had me lying down 'til the feeling went away. Then in late August last year, I saw the 3000 offered at an incredible closeout price, leaving me no choice but to take the plunge. Having previously used NiteRider's 600 lumen model, the 3000 was quite an upgrade, and it didn't take many outings with it to turn me into a lumen snob. On the lowest factory setting alone, there's never a loss for illumination, even on the darkest of trails on late-night rides. Other riders are so fascinated with the light output that I make a lot of new 'friends' who want to casually ride along, especially those using makeshift flashlights to light their way. Be careful, though, when using the highest setting as, operated full throttle, oncoming cyclists are easily blinded and don't hesitate to display a common finger gesture to let you know they think you're number one! Bottom line: Even though NiteRider's top-of-the-line headlights are pricey, you can't buy better, brighter lights. If you can afford it, get one ..... it's a purchase you won't regret!
