Bontrager calls the Race Mountain Shoes their entry-level model, but there's nothing entry-level about their features. They're a little less stiff than full-on race shoes, giving them better walkability and making them great for mountain biking, touring and commuting. The Races also feature breathable inForm uppers with three secure Velcro straps for dialing in the perfect fit. And, you get molded heel cups for additional comfort and support.

A very comfortable shoe, even after 8200miles. Have used this for my ever day commuter shoe while on the bike and while walking around my college campus. Overall, the shoe has held up very well, but this past fall I notice that the sole by the SPD cleat has torn away from the outside of the shoe. All expected thought when I use these shoes everyday of the week for the past 2 years. Temperature wise the shoe keeps your feet cool when its 100+ with no worries. Then when it gets cool the lowest I run these shoes will be 30 degrees before adding shoe cover or switching to my Lake winter boots!

I use this shoe for spin class and for riding the paved Baltimore-Annapolis (B&A;) trail. I ride a 1999 GT Outpost Trail MB with Shimano Deore XT pedals. Decent width shoe for a 51 year old guy with too many pounds on the old bones. Velcro closure is perfect for my use and gives a nice adjustable fit. A bit of work to remove the rubber pieces on the soles to add the cleats, but there are some good websites out there that show how its done. Just use a sharp knife and take your time.

Great price/value. Super fit. If they build on this model, my wish list includes... * more water resistance - they load up in the rain like a sponge * less weight - could be a bit lighter

I bought these from Michaels a couple of days ago after I decided my old Shimano's were too small. The tech at the store was real friendly and helpful. The shoes are great and perfect for mountain biking and even walking around town. The grip is pretty good too and the main reason I got it was that they were pretty affordable in contrast to other MTB shoes. I was impressed by michaels and the shoes and will be returning soon for more goodies for my bike.
