The Boa is a short-tray bike mount that fits a wider range of crossbar spreads (32 to 50 inches). It has a rotating wheel tray and a sleek fork block with Yakima's Locking Long-Throw Skewer, which clears most fork safety tabs.

The fork mount and rear tire cradle are just as easy to use & reliable as Yakima's other fork-mount bike holders.
You must have your crossbars spaced correctly, since the BOA does not have the full-length wheel tray that the Steelhead and other fork-mounts might have. But, the BOAs do give you seveeral inches of fore & aft adjustment. So, you can carry bike with different wheelbases.
Road, mountain, 26" and 29r all work fine.
My BOA's are a few years old now. None of the plastic resin has cracked, despite being in the elements during Indiana winters.
The small size of the BOA is an advantage for storage. If you take your crossbars off the car, the front & rear aren't necessarily connected, so the whole rack fits into a smaller space.
