Description

Trek's Domane was in secret development for three years. Then, they gave it to Fabian Cancellara to race on. It won. They considered every imaginable factor of frame construction to arrive at the perfect balance of speed, stability, and comfort, and they nailed it. Made from Trek's 600-series OCLV carbon, it's feathery light. Plus, it boasts a huge BB and optimized tube shapes to maximize your pedal power. And it has genius ideas like the IsoZone seat tube decoupler and IsoSpeed fork that make it comfortable and a dream to ride. Grand Fondos, centuries, long rides on not-so-smooth roads? The Domane is your bike. And, it sports Shimano Ultegra components for great shifting, Shimano hydraulic-disc brakes for ultimate stopping power, pro-proven Bontrager controls, and legit Bontrager wheels and 25c tires to seal the deal.

Trek's impressive Domane

Trek's Domane is a game-changer. It's a high-performance race machine that's also comfortable enough for even your longest rides and roughest roads. Here are some highlights:
The Domane IsoSpeed fork. The Domane Ride-Tuned No-Cut seatmast. The Domane 3S chain-keeper.
The IsoSpeed fork's rake (offset) has been increased to optimize handling and lengthen the wheelbase for greater compliance over even harsh terrain. It's already been proven with wins in races over the toughest cobbles in Europe.
Trek's Ride-Tuned No-Cut seatmast eliminates seatpost clamping forces so it can be super-light and soak up road vibrations for ride-all-day comfort. It also offers up to 10cm of adjustment, so a perfect fit is guaranteed.
The 3S chain-keeper is integrated directly into the frame. It's an elegant solution that prevents the chain coming off on rough roads and under hard shifts. It lets you make any shift you want at any time without worrying.
The Domane internal cable routing. The Domane E2 front end. The Domane IsoZone handlebars.
The Domane's internal cable routing offers precision shifting and positive braking in all conditions. It's also compatibile with modern drivetrains, aerodynamic, and it protects the cables reducing wear and tear and maintenance.
The E2 head tube tapers from 1 1/2 to 1-1/8 inch and is wider side to side than front to back. This minimizes weight, maximizes power transfer and improves cornering. Result: a more powerful and confident ride. Vibration is the enemy. So, the Domane's ergonomic IsoZone handlebars feature integrated cushioning pads that reduce vibration by 20%. This means a bar that feels custom bent for you and that maximizes your comfort too.

90mm-wide bottom bracket

Trek's BB90.
Trek's Domane features a unique bottom bracket that's 90mm wide (traditional ones are 68mm wide). This wide bottom bracket lets Trek build the frame with larger tubes for increased power transfer. Plus, the BB90 is machined so that the bearings can be placed directly into the frame, saving weight due to fewer parts, ensuring additional pedaling efficiency and simplifying maintenance and repair.

I've started cycling more frequently now that I have the Domane 6 series. It handlings like a dream! Gears shift quickly, and hills are a breeze. This bike is light-weight and responds to the lightest movement!

AMAZING BIKE!!!!

Pros:
Good Geometry, Fast, Handles Well, Comfortable, Comfort, Responsive, Lightweight
Cons:
Best Uses:
Serious Training, Racing, Casual Riding, Climbing
I went from a 2011 Madone 5.5 to this Domane 6.2 and I have to say this bike is absolutely amazing. I am way more comfortable and can still put down the power and speed like I could on my Madone. This bike is AMZING!!! If you are looking to log some serious miles and still want to hang with the fast crowd you will be able to do so on his bike.

Update to previous review

Pros:
Comfortable, Good Geometry
Cons:
Best Uses:
Climbing, Serious Training
This updates my previous review from 4 stars to 5 stars. After riding this bike down a number of long, steep, technical descents over the past four months, I can confirm that the 140mm rotors are more than adequate for the smaller riders who would use this 50cm frame size. I have had no overheating problems and have nothing but good things to say about the brakes specifically and the entire bike in general.

The extra spend is worth it

Pros:
Aesthetics, Brakes, Handles Well, Fast
Cons:
Best Uses:
Climbing, Racing, Exercising, Serious Training, Commuting
This bike is totally awsome. I liked everything about the 5.2 but wanted the disc brakes. I shelled out the extra cash and do not regret it. The brakes are powerful and fade free. It is also one of the better looking standard colours IMO. For the extra money you also get the top end 6 series frame plus a few extra goodies.

With lots of research, it does pay off! I'm only 5'5", bought a 50cm, the perfect fit. Nothing to change. Well at least for now. The only upgrade, I will make is the wheelset and tires in later time. This is an awesome bike and I would highly recommend it.

Great ride

Pros:
Comfortable, Strong Brakes, Good Geometry
Cons:
Brake Rotors Contact Fork
Best Uses:
Serious Training, Endurance Events, Climbing
Bought it for the disc brakes. I like to climb, which means I do a lot of descending too. Seen too many blowouts from other riders due to rim overheating on long technical downhills. Didn't want that to happen to me. One of my first rides on this new bike was a 1400' descent at an average grade of 10% (with a few 15% sections). Followed a slow Prius. Hard sustained braking all the way down. Very little pressure required, great control, no fade. I was really happy with the brakes. However, after the ride I noticed the front rotor had scraped the paint off the inside of the fork. Local Trek dealer had to replace the 160 mm rotors with smaller 140 mm rotors due to lack of clearance on the fork. No cost to me, but I'm a bit concerned with the smaller surface area now available for these types of braking situations in the future. This is probably only a problem on the smaller frames - I ride a 50 cm. My friend purchased a larger frame of the exact same model, and does not have this problem. I'm sure he'd give 5 stars for his, and I'll raise mine to 5 stars if the smaller rotors work out (or if Trek can fix the clearance issue on the fork.) Best thing about the bike is how it handles the rough roads. Took it out on some notoriously rough roads in our local area - roads that nearly knock out my teeth when I ride my Madone. The difference on this bike is amazing. Can't wait to get it out on a couple events I ride later this year that have extended dirt sections.
