Easy to mount and a cinch to store in the back of your car, Saris’ Solo is a low-profile rack for peace-of-mind convenience. Solo’s uni-body frame has no adjustable parts, which makes it a no-brainer to set up. With its soft, rubber, pivoting feet and four hold-down straps, the Solo safely and securely attaches to your car. Two strong buckles and an integrated anti-sway strap keep your bike in place. As an added bonus, the Solo is built with 100% recyclable, non-rusting materials.

Very Happy With It
Pros:
Stable
Cons:
Best Uses:
Bought this to drag my daughter's bike back to college. An 1100 mile trip and the bike was remarkably stable as was the rack. I did remove the left pedal because it would have scratched the car (I could have put an old sock on it instead), but the mounts are stable and the extra frame strap made the bike even more stable. The rack did NOT damage the paint. It is small enough to remove and throw into the trunk of her Mazda 3 sedan with lots of room to spare.

Poor Design
Pros:
Cons:
Best Uses:
The plastic frame flexes when you go round corners and roundabouts which makes the feet slip, it's a total nightmare. Also the rubber feet don't look like they'll scratch you paintwork but somehow they do! I regret ever fitting this to my car (Mini Cooper)

Light weight accessory
Pros:
Cons:
Best Uses:
I bought this for my wife (X-mas) and she was hesitant about it on her Rogue. The straps do fit over the rear wind draft spoiler and it is light weight not to put undo stress on it. She had trouble the first few times loading it up, but it is an easy to learn system. Perhaps velcro strapping instead of plastic, we'll see how the wear-and-tear hold up over the season

Easy to use
Pros:
Cons:
Best Uses:
Drove across the country with this. Only wish the bottom of the bike could have been easily secured so it wasn't bouncing against my bumper the whole way. A little irritating to try to use the trunk with it attached. For a removable trunk rack, this is all to be expected and this rack worked very well.

I am a working mom on the go whose SUV needs to be ready for kids, clients, or every so often - some me time in the form of a bike ride - all at a moments notice. The Solo fits perfectly in the back of my SUV, or on the back of my SUV - as needed and also at a moments notice. It's compact and stows neatly yet in a few moments can be mounted perfectly with the adjustable straps on the back of my car quickly and easily, with pedals safely away from my car.

Great but the instructions are missing a key thing
Pros:
Cons:
Best Uses:
At first I was ready to chuck this rack in the trash because on longer trips my bike started slowly slipping lower and lower. I nearly had a panic attack imaging my bike scattered all over the freeway. Even though my bike is well under 35lbs, the metal buckles weren't holding the straps tightly enough to keep them from slipping. But I called Saris support and they gave me great advice: Tie a knot in the two upper straps directly below the buckle and they won't slip. The knot is too fat to pass through the buckle so it'll keep everything in place. Apparently this advice is in the manual for other Solo racks, but not this one. Maybe they wanted to keep the little instruction card dead simple, but this tidbit made all the difference for me. Now I love the rack and feel totally confident using it.

Works Great
Pros:
Cons:
Best Uses:
I drive a 1999 Saturn SL1. The SOLO bike carrier works great. It has quick release straps which make it easy to take on and off and tighten down snuggly. Also, mounting the bike and securing it are easy with the plastic straps. Overall, I find it easy to put my bike on and take off. For small cars, you will need to remove the front wheel. Orientation of the bike carrier is such that you have to mount the bicycle with the front wheel on the passenger side (right side of car). The exhaust system is on the right side of the car, so I remove the front wheel to make sure the exhaust does not melt my tire. Also, the pedals will contact the car. I orientate the pedals so that they contact the license plate.

Nice product
Pros:
Cons:
Best Uses:
1. Belt clamps at point of attachment to car will scratch paint over time: I lined them with a 1" stick on weather stripping to solve. 2. Same with material used on rack itself...too harsh on paint 3. Need to tie down rear wheel also and be sure to cover the pedal: if you don't tie it down as you do the front wheel, it will spin and the peddal will scratch the trunk

Great Lightweight Bike Rack
Pros:
Lightweight, Stable, Easy to Install, Easy to Use
Cons:
Best Uses:
Road Bikes, Small Cars
I use this product on my 2007 Honda Civic coupe and it fits to the back of the car with no problem. The install is extremely simple and the rack was able to handle the weight of my road bike (18lbs). I drove at highway speeds of 110KM/H and both my bike and the rack were stable.
I would recommend using masking tape where the hooks attach to the car and where the rubber feet rest on the body. I also recommend using a microfiber cloth on the top tube of your bike to avoid scratches and to use a tie down strap to keep the bike wheels from spinning and handlebars from turning. I was able to use the straps from the two bottom hooks to help keep the bike from swaying into the bumper.
Overall this is a great rack for someone going from Point A to Point B and does not plan on leaving their bike/car un-attended for a period of time.

Not bad for the price tag.
Pros:
Easy to Use, Durable, Easy to Install, Lightweight
Cons:
Scratches Car, Unstable
Best Uses:
Road Bikes
For the price it's not that bad. The contact points are hard rubber on the frame and metal on the mounts. You should buy some sort of felt pads so that it doesn't scratch your paint. I didn't do that the 1st time and it scratched my paint. On smaller cars (like my GTI) the wheels sit out enough that the wind carries it away from the car. Lot of tie downs are recommended. Bottom line, it works but take the time to secure it well.

Just what you need for one bike
Pros:
Lightweight, Stable, Easy to Use, Easy to Install, Durable
Cons:
Best Uses:
Road Bikes, Small Cars
I have a small two seater car, Toyota MR2 1991 T-top, so roof rack more out of the question. Plus I only need it for one bike. I was looking into the Bone 2 but the store I went to didn't have it. I asked about the Solo, which was not out on their floor, but he said they have them and brought one out. I wasn't thinking about getting it because of the design and build of it. But I think simple is good. I went ahead and bought it hoping it would do the job. Making this long story shorter... it worked like a charm! Though that was just putting it on and testing the bike, not actually on the road. So I hope it sticks!

Great rack!
Pros:
Cons:
Best Uses:
I only needed a rack for one bike, the bones 2 would have done nicely but then I saw this rack. I was hesitant a frist but it tunred out to be exactly what I needed. We drove from San Antonio to Killeen for a weekend and it performed very well. I adjusted the straps, as we had it mounted to our Dodge Journey, but the adjustment was slight if at all really. The only thing I had to do was stabalize the front wheel and pad the pedal facing the vehicle. Once I did that I was good for the trip. Overall this rack is convienient and easy to use and fits a hatchback very well. I have a 2012 VW jetta and the rack fits this vehilce nicely as well. This rack is especially great for local trips and events too, though there is no locking mechanism it is still a smart buy.

Perfect for my needs
Pros:
Cons:
Best Uses:
I bought this bike rack because I needed a way to get my bike to and from a local triathlon class. Since I am the only one in the family that has a bike, it didn't make sense to buy a really expensive bike rack that holds multiple bikes. I have a Trek Navigator 3.0, which is a pretty heavy bike. In the trunk mount position, this rack works great for even a heavy bike like this. I've driven with the bike mounted in this rack in town with lots of stops and starts, over rough gravel roads, on the highway at 65mph, and over train tracks and speed bumps. The rack stays secure and the bike does not move. I do check the straps anytime we have a stop planned. I have needed to tighten the straps after the highway driving, but if I hadn't gotten out anyway to check them, I wouldn't have known, because the bike wasn't moving or swaying at all. This is a great rack! I bought it at REI with a coupon, so at [$], I couldn't have asked for a better rack!

Not Impressed
Pros:
Easy to Use, Lightweight, Convenient, Easy to Install
Cons:
Weak Construction, Not made for interstates, Too flimsy, Unstable
Best Uses:
Very short commutes
Horrible quality. I am actually on this website looking for its replacement. My Trek Madone deserves a better and safer transporter. I constantly am looking in the rearview mirror because I'm concerned that my bike is going to fall off. Spend some extra money!!!
My frame tubing is squarish and the Solo seems to like rounded tubing better. The two lower hooks got loose twice during use, even when tightened thouroughly.

Great Rack
Pros:
Cons:
Best Uses:
Needed a smaller rack to haul my son's bike 1,000 miles to college on the back of our Camry. The size of this rack was perfect for the job. I was pleasantly surprised by the stability of the rack. The bike seemed to be part of the car. The only time the bike started to move was when we drove into a thunderstorm with 60 mph winds, and even then it did not move much.

The Saris Solo Rocks!!!
Pros:
Easy to Use, Easy to Install, Lightweight, Stable
Cons:
Best Uses:
The Saris solo is just the ticket for transporting one bike. It is extremely lightweight and easy to attach to your vehicle. It is small enough that I can toss it in my trunk when not in use. The rack appears to be very stable. I use to put the seats down in my car, take the front wheel off my bike and put my bike in the car. But thanks to the Saris Solo, transporting my bike is so much easier now.
