PowerTap P1 Pedals

When looking for a replacement for my now deceased 14 year old power meter, I decided the P1 pedals best fit my situation. I have two bikes (road and tri), and the tri bike has two sets of wheels (training and aero). This would have required 3 new wheels or a lot of hassle getting the correct hub and having a bike shop relace my existing wheels in order to use PowerTap hubs. I also looked at spider based power meters from several different companies, but in the end, decided against thosefor a couple reasons. When my old power meter on the tri bike kicked the bucket, due to monetary constraints from the better half, I couldn't purchase a new crankset with a spider based power meter built in. However, I found a really good deal for some 386EVO cranks (one carbon and one aluminum). So, I switched both bikes from square taper BBs, and have lightly used cranks on both bikes. Buying a spider based power meter would mean two power meters and two additional new cranksets. With the P1 Pedals, I can easily switch back and forth between bikes and use the recently purchased cranksets. Plus the two lightly used cranksets, two MegaEvo BBs, and the P1 Pedals came out cheaper than buying two GXP BBs, one aluminum Quarq, and one carbon Quarq or two MegaExo/MegaEvo BBs, one aluminum Power2Max, and one carbon Power2Max. Also with the P1 Pedals I get actual left and right power rather than estimated left/right power with the Quarq or Power2Max. So, the pedals just seemed to fit my need best. I got the PowerTap pedals over other pedal based power meters, because I don't have to use a torque wrench or mess with power pods. The only downside I've ran into so far is PowerTap's refusal to give Android users the same level of analytics as iOS users. Sure the Android Virtual Training app can be used to update firmware, but the analytics suck and can only be used for rides less than one hour. Only time will tell if I continue to be happy with the P1 Pedals, but for now I am.

Went to 2.5 mm shorter cranks and still smack these pedals all the time in the faster crit races.

Originally purchased in Feb 2016, I have had 2 units fail each within 6 months of use. First set, the firmware on the right pedal froze after a battery change. Second set, the right pedal gradually stopped reading power over the course of 2 weeks, at which point no power data was being measured from the right pedal at all. I would have liked a refund, but was told that a replacement pair was the only option. I now have a 3rd pair (both failed units replaced under warranty) which I have no faith in. What started out as a product with a lot of potential has turned into something I longer want to use.

Extremely easy to use. I did have some difficulty pairing with my computer, but my LBS helped with this. While they are simple to use and versatile, the price tag is a big hurdle. I've found they work great with my smart trainer and bike computers.

Easy to install and change from one bike to another. Spends little battery. Easily connects to GPS of all brands.

Just started using the P1 pedals and I've been impressed. I love the fact that they were easy to install and to sinc (I have a Garmin Edge 520). Also they are great as easy to switch between bikes, if needed, or they stay constant with your bike when you perhaps switch between training and race wheels. Love the data provided to see the % difference between left and right sides. Would be great if they were made to fit with the standard cleats, rather than having to have specific ones, but it's hardly a big issue and easy enough to purchase the cleats when they need replacing.

I have used the P1-pedals together with a hub power meter (powertap) in my velomobile Milan SL in order to measure the energy-consumption of the drivetrain. It was about 12 % of the total power, due to longer chain, chain enclosing and additional brackets with normaly powered 100 W and 90 rpm. Very interesting the comparision of these datasets of both powermeters, e.g. by seeing the phase of the power etc. ... ;-)

I've been riding with the Powertap P1's for a year no wand they have performed flawlessly. As a pedal, they are fine: easy to clip into, easy to get out off, smooth running – nothing special, except that the stack height is a bit more than with most pedals. I adjusted my saddle height by about 2-3mm. The cleats are almost the same as Keo's but not quite, and Keo cleats may not sit securely. The P1 cleats are made by Wellgo and easy to find online (type RC-7B). But obviously the power meter functionality is much more important! Power signal is nicely constant without spikes or drop-outs, and (comparing it to the read-out of my Tacx Neo or the Stages of my friends) also bang-on accurate. Left-to-right balance is also consistent. Battery life is pretty good – easily 40-50hrs, probably more (but at some point I just change the batteries, to be on the safe side). Batteries are easy to change too, although the aluminum battery compartment cover is easy to damage with the ridiculously large allen key it requires. A little plastic allen tool or so coming with the pedals would be better. By far the biggest plus of this system over any other power meter is the ease of set-up and changing it from bike to bike, as I tend to do on short holidays or weekend trips when I rent a bike. Throw them in the bag, mount them with a simple allen key, calibrate, and that's it, just as simple as mounting normal pedals really. Apart from that, this is about the only system that works without problems on my carbon S-Works cranks. The main gripe I have is that the Powertap app to update firmware, adjust settings etc. is still only available on iOs and not for Android. In a household without anything Apple (are we the only one?) that sucks, and it is about time Powertap releases an Android app. Other than the Powertap app, the P1's have been a great training tool. I was hesitant to spend such an amount of money on them but now I feel it is probably the best equipment investment I ever made!

I bought these to easily switch powermeters between bikes. At first I was worried that they wouldn't hold up (I do more than 1000km per month), but after almost a year I'm happy to say they're still going strong! They easily switch between bikes, are accurate, and give a wealth of information that is very helpful. Definitely recommend!

I've been very happy with these pedals/power meter and have had zero problems.

I have three bikes and a trainer. The P1s switch between them all in seconds, are consistent, and take a battering but never miss a beat. The best thing is that I know my power readings are the same across all my rides, and therefore comparisons and consistency are easy. No calibration needed when changing bikes, but an allen key and it is done. Nice.

I have had these pedals for a year now and absolutely love them---they are accurate and I absolutely love the portability...I travel a lot and simply throw them in my suitcase with my Garmin bike computer and I can record every ride regardless of where I go...they are a little heavier than some of the other options but nothing currently on the market can match the ease and convenience and accuracy of the P1 Pedals.

I love the easy of calibration, use and accurate power reporting. I dislike the cleats a bit compared to Shimano SPD-SL. These cleats are less stable when walking and are a bit more finicky for pedal entry. Other than that, the pedals perform great and the power data is outstanding.

Easy to install and use. Amazing how seeing power becomes motivational and is more meaningful than simply speed and heart rate. No I have a true sense of how hard I am working the consequence is my rides are are faster. The only negative is related to working with Edge 1000, I suspect it is a Garmin issue. On starting a ride if the pedals are active before powering the Garmin, then the Garmin crashes. The fix is to start the Garmin then the pedals. I wish there was a way to see power phase on the Garmin live in a field rather then on the iPhone. There is a Garmin app that can do this but is intermittent. Recording the ride with the Powertap mobile app is the best way to review the information post ride

I use these pedals all the time on my road bike. They are super easy to install as you don´t have to fiddle with a torque wrench. Signal picks up easily on any computer I have tried (Garmin, Wahoo, Powertap) and I have had no issues at all. When it is time for TT-races I just switch the pedals over to my TT-bike. It is done in a few minutes, and they work just as well there.

The P1 pedals were the easiest to install, fast to remove and swap to another bike and provide accurate and consistent power numbers. The sync process is simple, the pedals have an iOS app for the iPhone and calibration is a breeze. The only downside I have seen so far is while using inside and if you sweat a lot there is one tiny screw on the pedal which has rust on it from the sweat. Other than that extremely minor blemish these pedals have been gold!

The PowerTap P1 pedals are my first power meters, and I'm glad I now have them. Installation is super easy. Power accuracy is good. Communication through ANT+ with the Garmin works well, and connecting to my iPhone through Bluetooth is there as well when I'm inside. They're pretty bulky, and I've knocked the bottom once when pedaling through a turn at a lean angle you wouldn't expect from normal pedal, so I'm cognizant to not do that again. They're built solidly and are quite heavy as a result. I do notice the weight when moving the bike around the house, but I suppose less so on the road. The benefits of the power knowledge and easy swapability outweigh the weight for me.

I was told that a PM was the best thing to add to my cycling. I ride road and do triathlons. I did my due diligence of research before making a purchase. I really wanted to have the ability to have a PM on both my bikes without breaking the bank. It was either pedals or a hub. I liked the idea of having individual feedback from the pedals as to which leg is working more so, hub was not an option. These pedals install easily, update via the app without pain, transfer between bikes in just a few minutes and have helped my riding tremendously. I really no longer look at how fast I'm going, but rather how many watts am I putting out. I'm not sure about battery like as of yet, the batteries they came with are still working just fine. I did need to raise my saddle just a bit as these pedals stack just a little taller. Other than that, I think I put in about 15 minutes installing them the first time. Felt like I did something wrong because I was done and ready to ride!

The pedals have been an easy way to add power to my metrics

I have several months of riding on the P1 pedals. They aren't for weight weight weenies, esp. considering they account for rotational weight, but they more than make up any small weight penalty with their excellent accuracy and reliability. In several months of riding I have had zero issues with data loss or connection with my head unit. The AAA battery used provides and excellent lasting charge, and those batteries are very easy to source, and in my mind certainly easier than other power meters with built-in lithium ion batteries that require you to charge the physical power meter itself - that seems like a nightmare! Beyond being among the Gold Standard DC Rainmaker super approved and beloved power meters, the biggest perk is the portability and transferability of the P1 pedals. You can easily move them from bike to bike, or remove them for transport and know they will be safe in your luggage during a trip (esp. a flight!). I love my P1s. There are cheaper power meters out there - and most of them are left side only, and none of those units have the portability of the P1 pedals. These are EXCELLENT and I am very happy with my purchase.

The best investment for my bikes and my ironman training

The Powertap P1 Pedals are a game changer for anyone who is competitive. The immediate feedback given through a head unit, or through a third party such as Training Peaks or even Strava will give not only your training a boost, but your performance on Race Day. Being able to target you critical power levels will keep you at peak performance. Using it during training ensures you stay in the zones you need and don't over do it. This is probably the most valuable tool I have picked up yet. If you are wanting to take a podium spot, or even if you just want to make yourself better these are a worthwhile investment. The dual pedals also allow the ability to measure which leg is better or which one needs some work. Very few tools can give you that great insight.

Simple to install, set up and move between bikes. Really like the bluetooth and ant compatibility. Seems spot on and consistent with wattage.

This is a solid choice for anyone with multiple bikes that they would like to swap a powermeter between. The P1 pedals take cycling metrics to a whole new level and have revolutionized the power game. Now anyone that can put on and take off pedals can use this incredible unit. FYI: dont take corners to hard!

These are super easy to install and makes having power on all your bikes super easy. I love that you can see the power distribution between each pedal as well - it allows you to see if one legs is stronger than the other.

I regularly swap the pedals between bikes. And they just work. No hassle, no fuss. Don't have to worry about complicated install or inaccurate data.

Great powermeter. Reliable when compared to computrainer and Quarq. Very easy to move from bike to bike. Cleats do not have the rubber grips to prevent sliding when walking (I am used to Shimano cleats)

I've been riding with power meters for over 10 years. I'm an active racer and cycling coach training all season on multiple bikes (race bike, training bike, TT bike. climbing bike, commuter bike). I used to own 4 different meters each one bike specific which compromised the consistency of the data. I switched to the Vector Pedals three years ago but was consistently having issues with callibration when I swapped them from bike to bike. The P1 Pedals changed all of that. Super easy to install and they are dead consistent with all my bikes. Couldn't be happier.

Easiest method at a very good price point to get power information. Have been using P1 pedals for two weeks and have switched them between bikes with ease. The only down side is that the cleats are specific to the P1. Ordered an extra pair of cleats to have on hand.

Love my P1's I initially bought a pair as a stop gap because I really wanted a DPMX power meter but they weren't out yet. (They are now defunct) Fell in love with the P1's when you really look how you use a power meter the P1's hit all the right boxes. Still wish they were a few onces lighter, and still haven't used the advanced metrics, but they have been bomber and I have been super pleased. Bought a second pair to go on my road bike. The initial pair I put on my TT bike.

I've done quiet a bit of research on power meters and I wanted a versatile unit that works across multiple bikes without a lot of fuss or complexity. These are the clear winner in that regard. My only wish is that they used a common cleat standard (Look Keo or Shimano). They aren't the prettiest of pedals but I'm a form follows function type of person so to me it's not a huge deal. There's no perfect power meter but if you have multiple bikes and want consistent, accurate, data across all of them and ease of transfer then this is the way to go.

Love the ease of assembly. Put the cleats on, screw the pedals In and you're good to go. The only thing I'll say is, watch how tight you take those corners!

These are first power pedals and I can't be happier. After several months of research I settled on these PowerTap power pedals and have begun to push my training in new ways.

After using Time and Shimano pedals forever I'm disappointed with the Look cleats. They are hard to clip in and I recently had a crash when the right pedal unclipped under power on a hill sending me to the pavement. I have a broken clavicle,ribs and collapsed lung. I have been riding bikes for 40 years and never had this happen.

So easy to install, easy to pair, and very reliable. Could not ask for anything more!

SRM user for over 10 year. Hoping to get the down spiral in price made me look for other solution. PowerTap P1 is highly recommended. Had issue with other power meters, not with the P1 so far. Heavy user in rain, cold and dirt.

Linked to my Garmin 810. I regularily get notifications that the right pedal is not conected. It happens often and I'm assuming its a firmware glitch as the power numbers seem correct.

Owned a Stages..bought cannondale and needed new meter to fit spider crank..this one has benefit can move between bikes. Installation was so easy..paired with Edge 520. Power data seems very consistent and nearly spot on with my Kickr. It is super high quality and doesn't drop out. It is worth extra for build quality..reliability. Worthy investment.

Most advanced cycling power meter ever developed.

Overall the pedals are very good. Would have preferred look cleat compatibility and the ability to upgrade the firmware and set crank length with a non ios app. I don't own an iphone and the app is not compatible with the ipad so for a 1200 pair of pedals, I feel cheated.

A bit on the expensive side, but less so than other pedal powermeters. Nothing negative to say besides that I prefer speedplay pedals and that I have to adapt to look-style pedals with the powertap. No issues yet, very good product.

P1 pedals were a welcome gift to solve power issues across many bikes. I have bikes in 3 different locations and now power is as easy as taking two pedals and an 8mm hex wrench. No more carting wheels around or swapping pads and making brake adjustments (unless I want to). P1 almost solves my issues with an older CycleOps 300PT Indoor Cycle which no longer interfaces with Apple El Capitan. Was really looking forward to solving this long ongoing ordeal. Getting data uploaded into PowerAgent has been a frustration for many years. Set up a really nice RAM Mount for iPad Mini 3 on the stem of the 300PT and signed up for CVT ... alas, CVT won't work with the P1 pedals. Only reads power at 50%. CycleOps tech support says this is due to paring by Bluetooth, but I suspect it is CVT code and will be same with ANT+ interface. Don't trust the explanation enough to buy an ANT+ adapter for iPad - especially since the adapter will use even more iPad battery power and block the charging port. So if you plan on using the P1's with CycleOps's CVT training program (at least iOS version) there's no estimate for a fix, which means you can't establish your FTP and riding at 50% power is really demotivating in the app. :) The P1's correlate vey well when run side-by-side with the PowerTap GS hub in my wheelset and the PowerTap hub in the 300PT Indoor Cycle. P1 pedals pair immediately with my Garmin Edge head units (Edge 705, Edge 510, and Edge 520). Set crank length and do a quick 15 second calibration in the head unit and you're ready to ride. No torque wrenches needed to install. Easy Peazy. Only disappointment is not being able to use them with CVT subscription ... and it's that time of year.

A fine example of a simple and easy to use power meter. Installation is not more complex than mounting a set of pedals. Calibrate and off you go. Switching bikes is very simple and go on a holiday and rent a bike? Take the pedals with you and you can use your power meter. It is really that simple. No matter the brand of the crank, it just fits. The pedals are not the lightest, but feel they are build to last. Power readings are fine and I use them on my outdoor bike as well as on my indoor bike (an old bike in my trainer) for training with software like Zwift. It all works great and now I can train outside and inside with the same power meter and compare results. Worth the investment. And PT has good track record in the power meter business; nice to know when you spend your money on a power meter.

I have been using the P1 pedals for 6 weeks now on my road bike with no issues, they easily paired with my Garmin 500 and have worked flawlessly the past 1000 miles. The best thing about having the pedals is now I can use whatever wheel set I want. I highly recommend these pedal.

I have been using the pedals for two weeks now in my fatbike and in myt track bike. With the track bike I can now get the cadence correct also on the rollers and in high cadence (200+) and with fatbike, just for fun. Easy to set from a bike to another. As correct as PowerTap, only easier to use and now I get the power from every bike I ride! Loving it!

Just like Apple products (apologies to Apple haters), who knows what's inside them or how they work, you just screw them in and they work. I came from Garmin Vectors that have little pieces hanging all over the place and then once you get the mess installed, they frequently drop the power readings. In comparison, P1's are 1 solid piece, screw in by hand, then tighten till they're snug. Garmin head unit readily finds the power meter, press the Calibrate button, and you're off! In the month since I got them, they're reliable and accurate. And Powertap has been easy to reach for questions by phone and online chat. Very pleased with the pedals.

As a new comer to power meters with limited finances, I'm a teacher, I needed a device that would easily transfer across bikes and wouldn't limit wheel choice. The P1 pedals are that power meter. They quickly transfer from my road bike to my TT bike and provide not only accurate power data, but also right/left power data. In my case the P1s have confirmed my righ/left power discrepancies and given me the data I need to work on correcting this. If your in the market for a Power Meter and are limited with how much you can buy, you need it to work across multiple bikes and you change your wheels out for training and racing, I strongly recommend the PowerTap P1 Pedals!

All in all, I'm pleased with the P1 Pedals. They're much easier to install than Garmin's Vector and compatible with all my bikes (road, TT, track).The price is suitable. Pairing and setup was truly plug-and-play easy. During a cross-test with an SRM-Science crank on an SRM ergometer, the P1 measured 3±19% lower (1-s data points) and 3±7% lower (10-s rolling average data points) than SRM, so pretty good accuracy. I haven't tested how reproducible they are yet. The AAA batteries are a good idea, because I can use rechargables (replacing the batteries of my Garmin Vector was always a hassle). I use a Garmin Edge 510 with ANT+ connection, so I can't comment on the BTLE interface. The only thing I find bad about the P1 Pedals is that they didn't design them to fit normal KeO shoe cleats. This should have been obvious to the makers. If indeed they have a reason other than forcing users to buy replacement cleats every 6 months from them, they could have at least thrown in a second pair of cleats. This would have been peanuts compared to the overall cost of the package. That said, there's only a small difference between the official P1 cleats and KeO cleats. I've tried both and they both work. Also, accuracy is the same with either set of cleats. I do notice a slight difference when clipping in but I'll probably just use KeO cleats when the P1 cleats are worn out.

I had waited for the release of the P1 pedals and it was well with my time! I could not be happier with the data they send me both on the road and trainer. Easy to install, use and set up.

I have had the P1 pedals for about 3 weeks. Installing them could not have been easier, or faster. With very easy and concise instructions, which is very minimal. Found one little glitch with mine, they had stopped working on 1 ride, found that I had over tightened the battery cover, I loosened just a tad, and they have been working flawlessly every since. To be fair, there is a warning to not over tighten, but I disregarded this, my bad. I have a PowerTap G3 hub which I have used simultaneously, at the end of the rides, they are within 1 - 3 watts of each other, kind of hard to beat that. Now that I have compared the 2. the P1's will be my Power meter as the Data available from them are so much more. In my opinion these are the best Power meters on the market, Simple, consistent, very well made. I consider these one of my best buys I have made.

I've been using all types of power meters for the last 6-7, road bike, TT bike, power cranks, trainers, rollers...each and every power meter had a downside, one was not accurate, the other wasn't reliable, the third one I wasn't able to easily transfer from one bike to another...I almost gave up on power meters. When I saw the new P1 I knew this is the one for me. I always likes the Powertap rear wheel power meter but the restriction on the wheel selection was way too much. The P1 was not available on any website or the local bike shops around my place. I decided to order it online and even sent them an email asking to expedite my shipment since I'm training for an Ironman race. I've received a reply from Saris the next day and within a few days the box was at my door. Fantastic service. The Saris rep kept in touch and asked if I have any questions or issues with my new power meter. There were none. I did notice that the clips are a bit soft and asked him for a solution. Within couple of days a new pair of clips were at my door, triple A service :) The P1 are accurate, easy to to install and super fast to transfer from one bike to another. It works perfect with my edge 1000 and the single leg power read is amazing. I played with each leg/power meter and the numbers changed within a second, super accurate. The only problem I've encountered is an indication on my Garmin (Edge 1000) that says the left power meter is not connected. I've asked Saris about it and was told it is a glitch with the Garmin. Hopefully they will fix it shortly. Bottom line, for the price of $1,200 there is not other power meter on the market that get even close to the P1. Highly recommended!!!

I wanted pedal power measurement so that I could easily swap to other bikes and still use them if I got a new bike. This fits the bill. I've ridden them about 500 miles so far with no problems. Installation is no harder than installing any pedal. Pairing with a Garmin head unit was also simple. I'm using these with a Garmin 810. I had to call both Powertap and Garmin to figure out why the power readings were at first very low. The trick is setting the crank arm length under "Bike Profiles" on the Garmin. The trick to that is that the crank arm length field only shows up when a power meter is actively paired with the Garmin. The default crank arm length on the Garmin is 140mm - very strange.

I chose the PowerTap pedals over the Garmin Vector 2 pedals for their convenience to set up. I only have one bike, which is used for all sorts of activities. The capability to swap components, e.g., wheels, tires, saddles, and pedals for different purposes, is important to me. The PowerTap pedals also provide cadence and L-R balance information in addition to power reading.

great product and worth the wait. setup great across all bikes and super easy to change. accurate next to other meters and pedal balance feature is powerful to optimize stroke. price point good in competition with other less versatile and robust meters.

I am very pleased with the P1 pedals after 5 rides. I chose the pedals so I could use several sets of wheels between bikes. The pedals connect to my Garmin 510 and 920 with no issues. I can transfer the pedals between bikes in about 60 seconds with just an allen wrench. I really enjoy the ability to review my power during and after rides to use it as a training tool. I didn't think I would enjoy having this training tool as much as I do, but I love it! I would however like a pedal cleat that offers more grip when walking around; I feel these cleats are downright treacherous for walking and running (for triathlon transitions).

Always worried about being an early adopter, but thus far couldn't be happier. I am building up a new bike and needed power. On my current bike I have an SRM so i have been running both and the numbers are spot on between the two. Very happy.

I purchased the first PowerTap hubs they offered years ago. Had some of my best races. Just bought the P1 pedals. Easy to set up, replaced my Ultegra pedals. Paired with my Garmin 1000, everything worked perfect. The data feedback far exceeded my expectations. I do prefer the Garmin 1000 to the PowerTap head. I think the data feedback and quality of the product is worth the investment.

My first set came with a strange technical issue, but tech support was great and after a little trouble shooting sent me out a new pair. They work great! The only problem is that they don't transmit power accurately during one-legged drills. I heard they're working on a firmware update to resolve this.

I was pleasantly surprised at ease of install and getting thing up and running. Did a 20 minute time trial and compared to my CompuTrainer stats and the accuracy was right on. I was concerned with durability but they have even survived a solid crash so far as well. So far so good!

This is my first purchase for a power meter and I am quite impressed. I compared the readings from my Garmin 510 (ant+) AND a cycle app (bluetooth) and the results are almost identical. The power readings seem quite accurate for my level of riding and gives me a very good idea what my power is. The pedals can easily be removed and transfered to another bike with no hassles. The pedals are heavier than my DuraAce and Ultegra pedals, but this doesn't bother me one bit since my bike is already feather light (14.5 lbs). I also love that I can compare my left AND right power output. Great choice for my needs

I have had the P1 pedals since end of June, used for over 800 miles, at elevation of 900' to over 10,000'. They work great. Lots of data I use a Joule gps+. I can see what I to improve on quickly, cadence/balance.

7 days in after a year-long wait for power, and the P1's did not disappoint! They brought with them a whole new level of pain, which will surely lead to improved race results. I look forward to updating this review with the time-value of these pedal-based power meters. Thanks, PowerTap!

This is my first experience with a power meter with the exception of my Wahoo KICKR trainer. The unit itself is a solid piece of engineering almost over engineered from a quality standpoint. It took me a little while to get used to clipping in but once they click in they feel solid and the torque is adjustable to fit your individual preference. The clips themselves feel solid and appear to look as if they will wear well. My only concern is they are not readily available at your LBS if they break or you ignore the signs of wear until it's too late. I understand that the Look Keo's will "work" temporarily so that may be an option if you are waiting on a replacement or in a pinch. As far as installation it was as simple as putting on any other set of pedals. They are a bit heavier than my old 105's but not a noticeable difference. In fact, the pedals feel much more fluid. My pedal strokes feel smooth further evidence that these are, in the basic form, really well put together pedals. From a power standpoint, I didn't get the Joule GPS and am still operating on a Wahoo RFLKT so the data is somewhat limited to the software I have. The data recorded seems as accurate as described but I'm looking forward to obtaining more data points to help me further refine my pedal stroke. As these are brand new I expect software/hardware will begin to incorporate the data broadcasts. Zeroing them is very simple, in fact, too simple! It would be nice to have a "range" of acceptable offsets to make sure that they aren't being incorrectly zeroed. I've used both the Powertap App as well as Wahoo and I get different offsets when manually zeroing varying quite a bit between the two apps. I'm assuming the Powertap App trumps all else but not having a Joule makes me question my confidence in the manual zero results. Again, as software vendors catch up I'm sure things will get better there. I hope that Powertap will open up the API so that you aren't limited to a specific head unit for all the data capture. Garmin has done this with their "Cycling Dynamics" and I think it is really short sided. Let the consumer choose and support their choice! Again, being a newbie to bike mounted power units it was an added bonus to find out that the pedals will also broadcast cadence. I'm tired of the Wahoo Speed & Cadence sensor not lining up on my carbon frame and either dropping or not reporting, or the speed sensor knocking against the magnet. Nothing more frustrating then trying to get your technology to work! Since speed can be tracked via GPS I'm going to remove the Wahoo completely and rely on cadence from the P1's. So I've saved some grams that the P1 took up another bonus! (ha ha). One slight criticism of the design that I do have is that it's difficult to see the LEDs on the pedals as they are placed on the inside of the pedal so you have to almost get on eye level to see the read outs. Something to get used to but frankly they "wake up" and connect so easily that it's not something that I've found necessary. Overall I'm very pleased with my purchase albeit almost as much as some people pay for an entire bike! Justification and a big plus for the P1s is the fact that they can be ported from one bike to another. While it is quite an investment, the fact that it will work on ANY bike and can install it without factory calibration, epoxy, or other modifications is a HUGE plus. In other words, these two little lie detectors will follow me wherever and whatever I ride including my annual rental down in Florida. Something you can't do with competing products. Looking forward to the future as things develop and software catches up with hardware I feel like I have a solid base for growth with the P1s.

Have been using PT wheels for 15 yrs, this is helping me work on leg strength asymmetry. Setup includes powercranks(yes working fine with pedals), android ant+ phone as head unit running Ipbike software(great app and able to calibrate, set crank length and display power L/R). Using a 2 mm correction factor in the crank length(to correct for drivetrain loss), power from pedals/previous PT wheel running concurrently is virtually identical.

I have had these for about two weeks now. Amazingly easy to install and as accurate as any other power meter i've used. Great product all on it's own (accurate and well priced) made even better by just how easy it is to move from bike-to-bike. Would definitely recommend buying these to anyone looking for a power meter.

I've been riding with the pedals since 6/20 or so. So far they have performed as expected. I compared the power to my computrainer and they're pretty much spot on. I really like the ability to be able to use the pedals on either my road or tri bike. Very convenient. I haven't had any issues with connectivity. I've done several multi-hour rides with them so far.

Having used a PowerTap hub for a couple seasons, my expectations were very high for their pedals. I'm happy to say everything about the pedals is easy and predictable. Set up was very quick (install like normal pedals, pair, set crank length, check calibration, ride). They shipped with very low clip in tension, but that was easy to adjust with an allen wrench and the 0 float cleats feel REALLY stable. As far as I can tell the pedals are just as accurate as the hub PLUS they separate data into left and right leg. After a couple races and a couple hundred miles I feel really good about these.

I recently sold my crank based power meter to make room for pedal-based power. I wanted power on more than one road bike, and quickly found there were not too many options. Since the whole point of me moving to pedal-based was so I could use them on multiple bikes, ease of installation and setup was paramount. I saw early test reviews of these pedals, and was definitely excited for these to come to market. I was fortunate enough to get into the line early, and as published, my pedals shipped the same week as I was told first shipments were supposed to go out. This is an impressive feat by itself. From unboxing, to battery installation, to pedal installation, to ANT+ pairing to my bike computer, the entire process maybe took 5-10 minutes. Pretty impressive. Cleat installation went as expected, and within no time I was on my fluid trainer doing my first FTP test. So far, all readings seem to be as expected, and I'm getting clear left and right based power numbers along with the expected cadence readings. I'm early into the pedal's use, but so far, I have had a great experience, and have zero complaints. The price point was great compared to other left and right power meter options. The unit came standard with 6 degree float cleats. I prefer to use 0 degree float, and with a quick email and order, Saris had the new cleats sent right out to me. So far, so good.

I only have about 500 miles on these so far, but they have been great. Even switched them between two bike (Q-rings on one bike and round on the other); no issues so far.

Easy to install; accurate as my hub mounterd power tap. getting used to the powe and cadence only vs all data from the rear wheel but not a problem. pedal comfort is fine but i switched out my Look plates for the ones that came with the P1s as I'd read the test results that the Look plates could slip. The Powertap plates are comfortable and theres no interface issues. i love the data readouts with L and R.

I got the pedals and installed them in about 5 minutes, including putting the batteries in. No need to use a torque wrench! They paired within a few seconds with my Garmin 910, Calibration took about another 5 seconds. Then I was off riding! Having never used a power meter before I cannot comment on accuracy or comparisons to other power meters. They take a few seconds to show a reading but I understand that is pretty standard. Pedals feel the same clipping in as my previous Look's. They feel very durable and well made. They are a little heavier than my regular pedals but not noticeable at all when riding. Also paired with Bluetooth to my phone/Wahoo fitness app in all of about 1 minute. After riding my bike I quickly moved them to my Lemond trainer and started riding! Took all of about 3 minutes to remove and re-install - just as any other pedal would be! Great Job Powertap!

Weekend 1 with the PowerTap P1s and they installed and worked flawlessly. Received and installed the pedals on June 26th, the paired instantly with my Garmin Edge 1000. We went out on our first rides on Saturday and Sunday, only got to put about 100 miles on them this weekend. The pedals have a great feel (replaced Shimano Ultegra pedals), release is smooth and good float in the pedal for my liking. If you want real-time ride feedback with a great design, this is it!
