Riding with Lance & Floyd at the Tour De Gila

I just got this email update about our ex - Fitzy Team riders Ian Tuttle and Chris Lunning:

Day 1 goes North from Silver City (we didn’t ride that but you may have driven it) through Cliff/Gila (which is where I took the pics) & then Glenwood & then up to the Mogollon ghost town. Brutal climb.

Today they do the inner loop which includes a section of rode from town to near our house which you rode. Early in today’s race there are extremely nasty downhill hairpin turns, offcamber decreasing radius and steep! Lots of crashes every year. They then come through San Lorenzo about 6 miles from our house. Sunday they reverse this course and include a Cat 1 climb to the Gila cliff dwellings.

I got a picture of Chris riding in the group. He’s riding for Above Category along with Ian Tuttle (also used to work at Fitzgerald’s). They both finished just ahead of Floyd Landis in the top 50 so they are riding extremely well

I attached picture of him with Lance to his right. He’s in a black/white kit at the middle right of picture. Lance is in yellow helmet to his right.

Unbelieveable! Give ‘em hell boys!

We also have a new comer to the Fitzy Team - Matt Andersen - racing in the Men’s Cat 2. Look for a report soo from Matt. Good Luck!

Eco Fair 2009

No Petroleum was used in the transportation of our booth!

No Petroleum was used in the transportation of our booth!

This past Saturday Jannine and I loaded up the electric Fitzy Truck (which is powered by wind energy by the way) and headed to the annual Jackson Eco-Fair. We were challenged by the organizers to compete for the “Greenest Booth” award. So we took up the challenge and prepared accordingly. In the end our booth was constructed entirely out of recyled cardboard bike boxes and recycled inner tubes. Even our table was made of cardboard! Jannine drove to the event in our fully electric / wind powered truck and I followed by bike. dsc06027While at the event we spun the Fitzy Wheel of Fortune and raised $110 for pathway maintenance! dsc06028In the end we lost out to some other booths because apparently the judges never came to ours! Talk about one upset Irishman! From what we saw from other booths, we ran away from the competition. But maybe the other booths just bought more carbon offsets. I certainly hope that the organizers recognize the whole point of a Green Booth competition - We assume it’s to encourage others to think about the sustainability of their booths next year. Maybe a “people’s choice” award can be in the mix for 2010! Overall, another great Eco Fair!dsc06031dsc06036

Forget the training wheels!

Drake on the Strider

Drake has never and will likely never need or especially WANT to use training wheels after his time on the walk bike. Talk about balance! Nice work Drake… love the motorcyle noises, but what so you say we keep it non-motorized when you get older!
