“Just when I wanted to keep not liking this guy….he gives me three hour coverage of bike racing on TV, probably will give me live Giro coverage….rides the race for his teammate to win…..and then handles a Doping Heckler in Livestrong colors like this……
I mean, come on…..you can’t script this stuff better. Nothing like a sport with the fans on the field for photos like this.”
Frost Bike is the annual winter cycling trade show put on by Quality Bicycle Products (QBP). QBP is an amazing organization. We choose to buy an overwhelming percentage of our parts and accessories from these guys because they are redefining the term “customer service”. Besides that they offer competitive pricing, great selection, and an environmental ethic we relate too. As a business owner, I am constantly learning how to treat my customers better by following in QBP’s footsteps. Jannine and I are so PSYCHED to see how they do it first hand! All weekend we’ll be updating this blog via Twitter. Hopefully your out skiing, but if your bored, check it out!
Pint Tune
Reg. $50 ***Now $35***
Great if your bike just needs a “going over”. If your friend is clean but needs the expert hands to make it perfect this is for you.
Half Barrel
Reg. $160 ***Now $99***
This is as thorough as it gets. We pull off every single part and give it the full treatment. If you haven’t had one of our Half Barrel overhauls in a while you’d be foolish to pass up this deal!
Don’t expect these deals to be around come March, so don’t slack off getting in to the shop!
Today, February 17th is the last day to submit comments to the Interior Department in regards to Mt Biking in National Parks. You can find an extrememly easy form to fill out and submit on IMBA’s website:
http://www.imba.com/news/action_alerts/12_08/12_18_nps.html
Here are the additional comments I added to their form letter:
“As a Bicycle store owner employing 15 people I can tell you that Mountain Biking in Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks will have tremendous benefits to locals and visitors alike. People of all ages travel to our region in search of activities on their National lands. When I tell them there is no off road cycling in the National Parks they are appalled. Cycling has very low impact on trails and wildlife and should be considered in all National Parks. I do not feel that Mountain Biking is appropriate on all National Park trails. But I do feel that each individual superintendent should be able to decide which of their trails could be considered Mountain Bike friendly. We should be encouraging people to get out of their cars and into their National Parks. Cycling can help achieve this goal.”

I mention Cervelo as the world’s finest Carbon bikes in this video and must say they do make extremely nice bikes, but I’d like to change that to “some of the finest carbon bikes”. As we all know, there are of course lots of fine carbon bikes theses days!

Jannine and I recently took a mid-winter trip to Florida to escape the cold and visit family. Or at least that’s what we told most people! The real reason for the trip was to get a jump on Cyclocross training!
Last Fall we were both overwhelmed with ‘cross fever and realized we had to have new ‘cross bikes to feed the addiction. The logical choice for us seemed to be Titanium Ritchey Cyclocross Breakaways. What’s a Breakaway? Well quite possibly it’s the coolest bike I’ve ever owned. They are not folding bikes, or goofy travel bikes, but full and complete cross/road bikes that just so happen to break apart in the middle and fit in an airline approved suitcase with no extra fees and about 15 minutes of packing.
OK, back to Florida. We had a hunch there might be good ‘cross training there, but little did we know just how good! Hilly golf courses for run ups, endless dirt roads, sand traps for authentic Belgium training, and to top it off, rows of half complete houses to use for barrier practice (one small upside of the recession). All that’s left to say now is 218 days to MooseCross, will you be ready?
Jannine clearly not following directions
Economic turmoil = future cross courses?
Finishing straight away practice
To each their own...right?
